A licensed child care center is required to keep records on staff.
An un-licensed center is not required to meet any requirements set by DHR. Unlicensed centers sign a wavier not to comply with DHR stantards. Unlicensed centers are required to let parents/ employees know they aren't licensed. Unlicensed centers come under the authority of the local District Attorney.

Licensed centers must meet character and suitability requirements on employees set by DHR before employment.

Suitability requirements:
  1. Three (3) references from previous employers
  2. Clearance from State Central Registry on Child Abuse and Neglect
  3. A Criminal History Backgraound Check through ABI and FBI.
  4. Written verification of their education
  5. A medical examination including a TB skin test
  6. Employees must also complete 12 clock hours yearly in training.
  7. Employees must be at least 19 years of age as set by DHR to hold a class. JAAD's requires employees to do three seperate interviews before employment.
The Center employs certified and non-certified employees. We employ college sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are working toward degrees. This is great experience for future job references. We maintain low staff turnover ratios.
Staff at JAAD’s is certified in child and adult First Aid and CPR by The American Red Cross. A CPR staff member is on staff at all times. All staff members meet DHR qualifications.
